Scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown offers several scholarships.

Key Club Scholarship recipients.

For almost half a century, the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown has been supporting high school seniors in our community by awarding scholarships. Our club has distributed more than $62,000 worth of scholarships since 2000, helping young individuals achieve their academic goals and pursue their passions.

These scholarships are awarded based on academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, community service, and financial consideration, making sure that every deserving student has the opportunity to succeed. With our unwavering commitment to empowering our youth, the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown is making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of these students.

The Atlee C. Kepler Scholarship, established in 1993, is a testament to the 33 years of dedicated service that Mr. Kepler provided as the administrative leader of Hagerstown Junior College. As a longtime member of the Hagerstown Kiwanis Club, Mr. Kepler’s contributions to the community were invaluable. This scholarship was created to honor his legacy and recognize outstanding students who embody his values of leadership and service. By awarding this scholarship, the Hagerstown Kiwanis Club continues to celebrate the life and legacy of Atlee C. Kepler and support the next generation of community leaders.

The John R. Dayhoff Scholarship is a tribute to the memory of John Dayhoff, a beloved member of the Hagerstown Kiwanis Club. Established in 1997, this scholarship is awarded each year to a graduate who intends to pursue a career in a health-related field. John’s widow, Kitty Dayhoff-Fischel, sponsors a portion of the scholarship, ensuring that his legacy lives on. Through this scholarship, the Hagerstown Kiwanis Club is not only honoring John’s memory but also supporting students who share his passion for serving others. It’s heartwarming to see how the club and his family have come together to create a lasting impact on the lives of these students.

In addition to the Kepler and Dayhoff scholarships, we also offer awards to qualifying seniors who are active members of sponsored Key Clubs.
